Selling a home you've owned a long time
A home that fits how you live now. Here's how the process works.
1. Talk through your goals
Timing, where you're headed next, and what you'd like to take with you.
2. Know your numbers
A free market analysis gives you an estimated sale price, not an appraisal. Together with your mortgage payoff, that gives you a rough picture of your equity.
3. Prepare the home
We decide which repairs and updates are worth doing and which you can skip.
4. List, negotiate, close
I handle showings, offers and the paperwork through closing.
What is equity? It's roughly what your home could sell for minus what you still owe on it. A long-owned home often has more of it, and it's yours to put toward your next step.
Options at a high level: sell and move to a home that's a better size or layout; buy and sell in a coordinated order; or talk with a lender about other ways to use equity, such as a cash-out refinance or a home equity loan (your home is the collateral). For taxes, ask a tax professional.
